Job Description
Under the guidance of the Senior Protection Officer and MEAL Manager, the MEAL Volunteer will participate in the daily monitoring and evaluation processes of the Integrated Protection Project, which is focused on gender-based violence (GBV) prevention and response, community-based protection, and access to justice. The volunteer will assist in data collection, entry, storage, preliminary analysis, and documentation to enhance evidence-based decision-making and project performance tracking. The volunteer will also collaborate with zone-level focal persons and support the MEAL team in regular field and office-based tasks.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Collect and update relevant project data using IRC-approved MEAL tools.
Support daily project monitoring and evaluation activities.
Enter, clean, and conduct preliminary analysis of collected data.
Maintain well-organized MEAL-related files in physical and digital formats.
Ensure accuracy and consistency in data and provide corrections as needed.
Participate in surveys, assessments, and evaluations.
Work closely with project focal persons across different zones to compile activity data.
Support regular data review meetings and contribute to data-driven decision-making.
Back up data regularly and update M&E documentation.
Provide administrative support to the MEAL team.
Perform other tasks as assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Demography, Economics, M&E, or related field.
Additional certification in Monitoring and Evaluation or Statistics is an advantage.
Familiarity with client feedback and accountability systems.
Experience in both quantitative and qualitative data collection methods.
Prior engagement with community groups, including youth and adults.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Word.
Willingness to work within the refugee settlement in field settings.
Fluency in local languages used in and around the refugee settlement.
Preference will be given to qualified locals of Yumbe District.
