Job Description
Position: MEAL Coordinator – AGRIP Project
Organization: ZOA Uganda
Location: Mbale, Uganda (frequent travel to project sites)
Reports to: Program Manager, Acholi
Start Date: December 2025
Closing Date: 16th November 2025
Duration: 7 months
Working Hours: Full-time (40 hours/week)
Project Overview: AGRIP
The AGRIP project aims to strengthen food security and resilient farming systems by improving access, availability, and quality of land tenure, agriculture, and food security services across 16 districts in Busoga, Elgon, Kigezi, Lango, and Rwenzori regions. ZOA leads capacity development initiatives for customary land management, critical for the successful roll-out of Results-Based Financing (RBF) activities.
Role Overview
The MEAL Coordinator will oversee all Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning activities related to ZOA’s capacity development work on customary land registration. The Coordinator will collaborate closely with project partners and ZOA MEAL colleagues to ensure alignment with the project’s MEAL framework, led by Cordaid.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Monitoring & Evaluation
Implement MEAL systems with partner MEAL focal points to collect data on project outputs, outcomes, and impacts.
Lead local analysis and interpretation of MEAL data to inform reports and adaptive project planning.
Utilize tools such as Q-GIS to visualize project reach and key performance indicators.
Ensure adherence to ZOA MEAL framework, data protection, and data governance principles.
Design pre- and post-training assessment tools for capacity development initiatives.
Train staff and stakeholders on data collection, quality standards, and documentation.
Conduct regular data quality checks and maintain up-to-date project databases.
Lead field data collection exercises, including recruitment, training, supervision, and data entry.
Accountability & Learning
Oversee ZOA’s Core Humanitarian Standard commitments, ensuring Feedback and Complaints Mechanisms are operational and effective.
Sensitize beneficiaries and stakeholders on feedback and complaint procedures.
Document and follow up on complaints in line with reporting procedures.
Ensure all activities comply with ZOA’s code of conduct, safeguarding policies, and the “Do No Harm” principle.
Project Visibility
Support production of high-quality visibility materials for community engagement, donor communication, and partner meetings.
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Profile
Education & Experience
Graduate degree in Statistics, IT, Economics, Sociology, Development Studies, Population Studies, or related field.
Minimum 3 years of experience in participatory assessment, monitoring, and MEAL implementation.
Skilled in computerized data analysis (e.g., SPSS, Stata), visualization tools (Power BI, Q-GIS), and MEAL design.
Experience in land rights or capacity development programmes is an advantage.
Understanding of the Uganda context and local languages relevant to project areas is a plus.
Skills & Competencies
Strong communication and report-writing abilities.
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
Innovative, results-oriented, and able to work independently.
Ability to ride a motorcycle with a valid license is an advantage.
