Job Summary:
DFCU Bank is seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Market Risk Analyst to join its Risk Management team. Reporting to the Head of Market Risk Management, the successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the implementation and monitoring of market risk activities. This includes delivering high-quality risk reporting, supporting the risk control environment, and ensuring compliance with internal market risk frameworks.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Ensure timely and accurate submission of daily market risk exposure reports, including clear and insightful commentary to support management decision-making.
Periodically review processes and procedures in the Global Financial Markets (GFM) and back-office operations, recommending enhancements to strengthen controls.
Support GFM by conducting product risk assessments and recommending mitigating controls for new, existing, or complex financial products and trades.
Enforce compliance with market risk policies and standards, in alignment with the bank’s risk management framework.
Contribute to the development and periodic review of market risk appetite and limit-setting processes.
Investigate market risk limit breaches, escalate issues in line with policy, and provide management with the necessary insights for informed action.
Prepare monthly market risk reports for the Management Asset and Liability Committee (ALCO) and the Risk and Compliance Committee (RISCO).
Provide input into the Internal Capital Adequacy Assessment Process (ICAAP) and integrated stress testing related to market risk.
Offer expert risk advisory support to business units to optimize risk exposure.
Review monthly reconciliations of all Treasury suspense accounts and fixed income positions, ensuring prompt resolution of discrepancies.
Collaborate with the Operational Risk team in conducting risk assurance reviews and regular Risk Control Assessments (RCAs) of the GFM function.
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
A Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Statistics, Economics, or a related field from a recognized institution.
ACI Operations Certificate is an added advantage.
Minimum of 5 years' experience in a financial institution, with at least 2 years in Treasury or Financial Markets.
Deep understanding of treasury products, including their full life cycles, and solid knowledge of money market instruments, investment products, derivatives, and foreign exchange.
Strong analytical abilities and advanced Excel skills.
Highly organized, self-motivated, and capable of handling multiple tasks effectively.
Strong team player with a proactive attitude and the ability to perform under pressure.
High ethical standards and attention to detail.
Numerically proficient with a meticulous approach to data analysis.
