Position: Market & Credit Risk Analyst

We are currently seeking a passionate and analytical individual to join our team as a Market & Credit Risk Analyst.
Role Summary
The Market & Credit Risk Analyst will support the Risk Management team in identifying, assessing, monitoring, and reporting on credit and market risks related to FINCA Uganda’s lending and investment operations. This is an excellent opportunity for early-career professionals looking to grow in the field of risk management within the financial sector.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Monitor and report on credit risk exposure across the loan portfolio.
Assist in analyzing market risk, including interest rate, liquidity, and foreign exchange exposures.
Help prepare and maintain internal risk dashboards and regular reports for management.
Collect data and segment portfolios for more accurate risk assessments.
Support credit risk analysis for both new and existing clients.
Collaborate with Treasury, Finance, Credit, and the Head of Risk to set internal limits on liquidity, credit, interest rates, and FX exposure.
Conduct monthly stress testing to evaluate risk exposure under different scenarios.
Track and report on regulatory ratios, including lending ratios, Liquid Assets/Total Assets, and Non-Performing Assets (NPA).
Support the review and enhancement of risk policies and procedures to align with best practices.
Review Risk and Control Self-Assessments (RCSAs) for lending and finance departments.
Follow up on audit findings and risk recommendations for Finance, Legal, and Credit departments.
Contribute to system implementation projects (e.g., ICAAP, credit management systems, stress testing tools) by providing input on risk modeling and measurement.
Ensure data integrity and support the maintenance of internal risk databases.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support enterprise-wide risk control initiatives.

Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Bachelor’s degree in Risk Management, Commerce, Economics, Statistics, or a related field.
A certification in Risk Management is an added advantage.
1–2 years of relevant experience or internship in a financial institution, preferably in a risk or credit function.
Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
Proficiency in MS Excel and data analysis tools.
