Job Description
As the Managing Director, you will be responsible for developing and executing the strategic vision of Pula Re. You will oversee operations, lead a high-performing team, build relationships with key stakeholders, and deliver innovative reinsurance solutions. The role combines executive leadership with hands-on innovation and market influence. You will define Pula Re's place as the premier reinsurer in African markets, working under the guidance of the Board of Directors and supported by Pula’s robust foundation and global reputation.
This is a rare opportunity to build a reinsurance company from the ground up, offering a mix of challenge, ownership, impact, and substantial financial upside through a competitive equity structure.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Lead Pula Re's senior management in defining and executing a strategic 3-year business plan.
Forge high-value partnerships with African insurers, delivering on aggressive commercial goals.
Position Pula Re as an industry disruptor, crafting innovative solutions to insurers’ challenges.
Act as a brand ambassador, enhancing visibility and influence in local and international markets.
Ensure regulatory compliance in Bermuda and across African jurisdictions.
Inspire a results-driven, collaborative company culture centered on innovation and excellence.
Monitor and evaluate operational success, resetting strategies to meet evolving market needs.

Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Minimum Requirements:
10–15 years’ experience in reinsurance, insurance, or brokering with proven commercial results.
Deep technical understanding of reinsurance structures and risk transfer mechanisms.
Extensive relationships with African insurance companies and familiarity with local ecosystems.
Prior leadership experience in scaling ventures or building new business units.
Knowledge of regulatory frameworks in Bermuda and key African markets.
