Job Description
Job Title: Management Accountant
Organisation: Abubaker Technical Services and General Supplies
Duty Station: Mukono, Uganda
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Project Costing and Profitability Analysis:
Develop and maintain detailed project cost tracking systems.
Analyze project costs, including labor, materials, equipment, and overhead, to determine project profitability.
Prepare project cost reports and variance analyses.
Provide financial insights and recommendations to project managers to improve project profitability.
Monitor project cost to completion and give reports.
Plant Costing and Profitability Analysis:
Develop and maintain detailed plant cost tracking systems for asphalt, culvert, and stone crushing plants.
Analyze plant production costs, including raw materials, labor, and overhead, to determine plant profitability.
Prepare plant cost reports and variance analyses.
Provide financial insights and recommendations to plant managers to improve plant efficiency and profitability.
Analyze machine hour rates, and production output to aid in costing.
Budgeting and Forecasting:
Develop and manage the company’s annual budget and forecasts.
Prepare budget variance analyses and provide insights into performance against budget.
Develop and maintain financial models to support forecasting and planning.
Prepare cash flow forecasts.
Performance Reporting and Analysis:
Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to track financial performance.
Prepare and present regular financial reports to management, including monthly, quarterly, and annual reports.
Analyze financial data to identify trends and potential areas for improvement.
Analyze equipment utilization.
Financial Analysis and Decision Support:
Conduct financial analysis to support strategic decision-making.
Evaluate the financial implications of proposed projects and investments.
Provide financial advice and support to management on a variety of financial matters.
Analyze the financial impact of procurement decisions.
Inventory valuation and costing:
Participate in inventory costing and valuation.
Analyse inventory losses, and recommend improvements.
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
Proven experience in cost accounting and financial analysis.
Strong knowledge of budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling.
Proficiency in ERP systems and financial reporting tools.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and deadline-driven environment.
Knowledge of the construction industry is a plus.
Certifications such as CIMA, ACCA or CPA are a plus.
