Job Description
Job Title: Maintenance Clerk (Fresher Jobs)

Duty Station: Kampala, Uganda
The job holder will ensure efficient operation of maintenance related tasks with close collaboration with management in promoting a safe work environment at all times. The role combines the responsibility of safely transporting personnel, company items, while also handling routine and preventive maintenance tasks. The job holder will dedicate 70% of the role to maintenance and 30% to driving.
The job holder must be able to drive both automatic and manual operated vehicle and familiar with Uganda surroundings.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Driver
Safely transport employees and documents to designated locations as required on a timely manner.
Regular Vehicle inspection and maintenance checks and advise management at any given time for any damages on the vehicle.
Maintain preventative maintenance schedule and keep management in loop.
Compliance with Traffic rules, Regulations and company Fleet policy on vehicle use.
Ensure proper record keeping by maintaining updated log cards, mileage, delivery records and share daily report.
Report any accidents, traffic violations or vehicle issues to the supervisor immediately.
Provide courteous and professional service to staff during transit.
Maintenance
Conduct regular inspections and routine maintenance of equipment, machinery, and facilities to ensure the facility is in a good condition.
Coordinate with mechanics /service providers for more complex repairs.
Report maintenance issues and safety hazards to the line manager in a timely manner, Switch on lights and air conditioning in the morning to ensure the office is ready for use.
Coordinate servicing and repairs of essential equipment to avoid breakdowns.
Ensure all maintenance work complies with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards Ensure compliance with health and safety procedures during maintenance works.
Maintain a detailed record of all maintenance work performed on vehicles, facilities and equipment.
Troubleshoot and repair technical issues, including electrical and plumbing systems, to avoid business interruptions and equipment breakdowns.
Perform basic electrical maintenance tasks, such as checking circuits, wiring, and replacing faulty electrical components.
Assist in plumbing maintenance, including checking pipes, repairing leaks, and ensuring proper water flow within company facilities.
Maintain and update a preventative maintenance schedule to minimize unplanned repairs.
Keep accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, inspections, and part replacements.
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Professional Certificate/training in Construction/Plumbing/Electrical.
Diploma in Electrical engineering or a related field is an added advantage.
Knowledge:
Demonstrates functional knowledge of Electrical installation system, machine maintenance (Generator, Electricals, Electrics and Equipment), and repair of plumbing systems.
Good all-round mechanical and electrical knowledge
Defensive Driving knowledge
Maintenance Knowledge
Facilities management and Customer service.
Skills:
Safe driving skills both Manual and Automatic vehicles
Maintenance (Electrical/Plumbing/Construction )
First aid skills is required
Organisational and documentation skills
Good written- and verbal communication skills
Computer literate with the proficient use of Microsoft Office package (Excel in particular)
Excellent time management skills.
Problem-solving abilities.
Experience:
2 years in maintenance/technical field
1 year + experience as a Driver.
Clean driving record.
Should have good geographical knowledge of Uganda.
