Job Description

As a Machine Operator, you will be responsible for managing a series of production machines across at least two factory areas. The role includes ensuring safety, quality, productivity, and sustainability in operations. You will be expected to operate autonomously, identify issues, drive continuous improvement, and support team development.

Key focus areas include:

  • Operating and maintaining machines in filling, packing, mixing, and other production processes.

  • Applying mechanical, pneumatic, and diagnostic skills to maintain equipment.

  • Supporting Unilever Manufacturing Standards (UMS) and cost management.

  • Ensuring compliance with safety, health, environment, and quality standards.

  • Coaching team members and promoting strong communication and leadership within the team.

This position offers an opportunity to contribute directly to business results while building leadership and technical competencies.

Duties, Roles and Responsibilities

  • Operate, maintain, improve, and repair equipment according to OMIR standards.

  • Execute production processes safely and efficiently to meet quality standards.

  • Conduct changeovers, adjustments, and basic mechanical repairs.

  • Apply lubrication and maintenance best practices.

  • Monitor and evaluate machinery conditions using diagnostic tools.

  • Identify hazards and follow all health, safety, and environmental procedures.

  • Report faults in product or packaging quality and initiate emergency action if required.

  • Contribute to mechanical and continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Apply performance metrics and zero-loss mindset to identify and eliminate inefficiencies.

  • Demonstrate leadership in team collaboration and problem solving.

  • Coach colleagues and support training initiatives.

  • Contribute to administrative tasks such as shift planning and onboarding new team members.

Qualifications, Education and Competencies

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Technical certification or equivalent in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering is preferred.

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in an FMCG manufacturing environment.

Technical Skills:

  • Basic mechanical knowledge in automation and production machinery.

  • Familiarity with bench fitting, machining, or maintenance tasks.

  • Understanding of motion mechanisms, pneumatics, and fault diagnosis.

  • Digital awareness and ability to use diagnostic tools.

Soft Skills:

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Leadership and coaching abilities.

  • Analytical and problem-solving mindset.
