Job Description
A Logistics Supervisor is responsible for coordinating and overseeing the movement, storage, and distribution of goods to ensure efficient and cost-effective operations. They play a key role in planning logistics operations, managing inventory and warehouse activities, and supervising transport teams to meet organizational goals.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
- Schedule and oversee the receipt, storage, and dispatch of goods.
- Coordinate transportation activities to ensure timely deliveries.
- Monitor logistics processes to meet operational requirements.
- Supervise inventory control activities and stock accuracy.
- Ensure proper storage, handling, and organization of materials.
- Conduct regular stock counts and reconcile inventory discrepancies.
- Lead, supervise, and allocate tasks to logistics staff, drivers, and warehouse personnel.
- Monitor employee performance and provide coaching where necessary.
- Ensure adherence to work schedules and productivity targets.
- Coordinate vehicle utilization, routing, and delivery schedules.
- Monitor fuel consumption, vehicle maintenance, and transportation costs.
- Ensure compliance with transport regulations and company policies.
- Ensure adherence to health, safety, and environmental standards.
- Maintain proper documentation for logistics activities.
- Implement and monitor safe handling and storage practices.
- Liaise with suppliers, transporters, and internal departments.
- Resolve logistics-related issues affecting operations.
- Support procurement and production teams in meeting supply requirements.
- Track logistics performance indicators such as delivery timelines, inventory accuracy, and transportation costs.
- Prepare operational reports and provide recommendations for improvement.
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency.
- Investigate and resolve delays, stock variances, and delivery challenges.
- Develop strategies to optimize logistics costs and service levels.
- Support the implementation of new logistics systems and procedures.
