Job Description

The Ledger Controller will be responsible for the optimization and oversight of all ledger-related finance activities, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, cash management, costing and inventory, and general accounting. The position requires collaboration with the Country Controller, Accounting Shared Service Center, Tax Manager, Operations, and Corporate Managers in Africa to ensure accuracy, compliance, and efficiency in financial processes.
The role also involves active participation in treasury management, including analyzing foreign exchange exposures, handling daily cash flows, and debt management. The successful candidate will play a critical part in ensuring that NOV’s tax processes are optimized and tax reporting remains compliant with regulatory requirements.

Duties, Roles and Responsibilities

  • Oversee and optimize all accounting processes (AR, AP, costing, inventory, and general ledger).

  • Ensure timely and accurate preparation of financial reports.

  • Support treasury operations by analyzing financial needs, managing FX exposures, and overseeing daily cash and debt transactions.

  • Collaborate with the Country Controller and Tax Manager to ensure accurate, compliant tax reporting and process optimization.

  • Maintain compliance with IFRS accounting standards and local tax regulations.

  • Work with cross-functional teams to drive efficiency and maintain NOV’s high reporting standards.

  • Provide financial insights and support to management for decision-making.

Qualifications, Education and Competencies

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Accounting/Finance, or Chartered Accountant qualification (minimum 3 years’ articles completed).

  • At least 3 years’ experience in IFRS accounting and tax return review, preferably with a blend of audit and multinational finance experience.

  • Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.

  • Advanced proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across teams and cultures.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to work independently and proactively
