About the Organisation
Bugema University is a private, co-educational institution of higher learning located in Kalagala, Luweero District, Uganda, approximately 33 kilometers northeast of Kampala. Established in 1948 as the Bugema Missionary Training School to train teachers and pastors for the Seventh-day Adventist Church in East Africa, it evolved into Bugema Missionary College and later Bugema Adventist College.
In 1994, it attained university status, and in 1997, it was licensed by the Uganda Ministry of Education and Sports to operate as a university. Affiliated with the Seventh-day Adventist Church, Bugema University is part of the global Seventh-day Adventist education system, the world's second-largest Christian school system.
The university offers a diverse range of academic programs across various disciplines, including Business Administration, Education, Theology and Religious Studies, Science and Technology, Agriculture and Applied Sciences, Health and Allied Sciences, and Social Sciences.
It provides undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programs, some in collaboration with international institutions like the University of Eastern Africa, Baraton (Kenya), and Central Luzon State University (Philippines). Job Description
The Lecturers will be responsible for teaching undergraduate and postgraduate courses, supervising student research projects, contributing to curriculum development, engaging in scientific research, and supporting departmental administration. The roles require individuals with subject expertise, academic excellence, and a strong commitment to professional growth and mentoring students.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Teach and assess undergraduate and/or postgraduate students in specialized fields.
Develop and review teaching materials and course outlines.
Supervise student research projects and laboratory work.
Engage in individual and collaborative research projects and publish findings.
Participate in departmental planning, administration, and meetings.
Provide academic advising and mentorship to students.
Contribute to community engagement and university activities.
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Minimum Qualifications:
MSc in Biochemistry with specialization in Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, or Microbiology.
OR MSc in Biomedical Engineering or a related field.
Teaching experience at the university level is an added advantage.
Demonstrated research ability with publications preferred.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work collaboratively and independently.
Commitment to ethical academic and professional standards.
