About the Organisation
Bugema University is a private, co-educational institution of higher learning located in Kalagala, Luweero District, Uganda, approximately 33 kilometers northeast of Kampala. Established in 1948 as the Bugema Missionary Training School to train teachers and pastors for the Seventh-day Adventist Church in East Africa, it evolved into Bugema Missionary College and later Bugema Adventist College.
In 1994, it attained university status, and in 1997, it was licensed by the Uganda Ministry of Education and Sports to operate as a university. Affiliated with the Seventh-day Adventist Church, Bugema University is part of the global Seventh-day Adventist education system, the world's second-largest Christian school system.
The university offers a diverse range of academic programs across various disciplines, including Business Administration, Education, Theology and Religious Studies, Science and Technology, Agriculture and Applied Sciences, Health and Allied Sciences, and Social Sciences.
It provides undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programs, some in collaboration with international institutions like the University of Eastern Africa, Baraton (Kenya), and Central Luzon State University (Philippines). Job Description
The Lecturer will be responsible for preparing and delivering engaging lectures, overseeing student clinical placements and research projects, contributing to curriculum reviews, and actively participating in departmental academic and administrative duties. The candidate must demonstrate a commitment to academic excellence, ethical conduct, and innovation in teaching and research.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Prepare and deliver lectures in Nursing and related health disciplines.
Supervise student internships, clinical placements, and research projects.
Participate in curriculum development and academic planning.
Conduct and publish research relevant to the field of nursing.
Provide academic advising and mentorship to students.
Attend departmental and university meetings.
Contribute to community outreach and institutional service.
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
PhD in Nursing OR
Master of Science in Nursing OR
MB ChB (Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery)
Strong background in clinical practice and/or medical education.
Proven teaching experience at tertiary level is an advantage.
Excellent communication, mentoring, and organizational skills.
Must be registered and licensed with the appropriate professional body.
