About the Organisation
Bugema University is a private, co-educational institution of higher learning located in Kalagala, Luweero District, Uganda, approximately 33 kilometers northeast of Kampala. Established in 1948 as the Bugema Missionary Training School to train teachers and pastors for the Seventh-day Adventist Church in East Africa, it evolved into Bugema Missionary College and later Bugema Adventist College.
In 1994, it attained university status, and in 1997, it was licensed by the Uganda Ministry of Education and Sports to operate as a university. Affiliated with the Seventh-day Adventist Church, Bugema University is part of the global Seventh-day Adventist education system, the world's second-largest Christian school system.
The university offers a diverse range of academic programs across various disciplines, including Business Administration, Education, Theology and Religious Studies, Science and Technology, Agriculture and Applied Sciences, Health and Allied Sciences, and Social Sciences.
It provides undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programs, some in collaboration with international institutions like the University of Eastern Africa, Baraton (Kenya), and Central Luzon State University (Philippines). The university's mission is to offer an excellent and distinctive holistic Christian education designed to prepare students, through training, research, and scholarship, for productive lives of service to God and the community with integrity, encapsulated in its motto: "Excellence in Service."

Job Description
The lecturers will be responsible for delivering undergraduate and postgraduate courses, preparing course content, evaluating students, conducting academic research, and participating in curriculum development. They will also contribute to the university's broader mission through mentoring, outreach, and committee service.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Plan, prepare and deliver lectures in the relevant subject area.
Evaluate student performance through assignments, tests, and examinations.
Supervise student projects and dissertations.
Participate in curriculum design and review.
Conduct research and contribute to academic publications.
Advise and mentor students on academic and career matters.
Contribute to departmental and university-wide initiatives.
Engage in community service activities as per university policy.
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Master’s Degree in any of the following areas:
M.A. Linguistics (English Language or Literature)
M.A. Swahili
M.A. History
M.A. Entrepreneurship
M.A. Economics
PhD or PhD candidacy will be an added advantage.
Previous teaching experience at the university level is highly preferred.
Excellent communication and presentation skills.
Strong research and analytical capabilities.
Commitment to academic excellence and ethical practices.
