Job Description
Reporting to the Head of Operations, the role develops and institutionalizes a company-wide EHS strategy, policies and SOPs aligned to Kenyan law and global best practice; leads governance and audits; owns Quality & Integrated Management Systems (ISO 45001/14001/9001) including certifications and renewals; standardizes KPIs and practices across sites; drives HIRA, emergency preparedness, investigations and root-cause corrective actions; liaises with regulators, emergency services and community stakeholders; and builds capability via structured training, coaching and behavior-based safety to embed a zero-harm culture.

Develop, implement and continuously improve the EHS strategy and governance.
Own EHS policies/SOPs; ensure compliance with NEMA, OSHA, DOSHS, fire & EIA guidelines.
Lead internal/external audits, gap closure and CAPA; maintain legal registers.
Own IMS/QMS (ISO 45001/14001/9001): audits, renewals, MRM, continual improvement.
Oversee site EHS teams; set KPIs, standardize best practices and reporting.
Lead HIRA, emergency preparedness, mock drills and environmental monitoring.
Drive incident investigations (RCA) and preventive actions; track effectiveness.
Engage regulators, emergency services, industry bodies and community on EHS/CSR.
Deliver EHS training plans for employees/contractors/visitors; run BBS campaigns.
Produce daily/weekly/monthly EHS performance reports and insights for leadership.
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Bachelor’s in Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering or related; Master’s preferred.
NEBOSH/IOSH/OSHA certification (mandatory).
10+ years’ EHS leadership in FMCG/manufacturing; proven multi-site oversight.
Deep knowledge of Kenyan EHS laws and global frameworks; audit and certification experience.
Strong stakeholder management; fluent English & Kiswahili; local regulator networks an advantage.
Attributes: proactive, ethical, hands-on, strategic with strong execution; culture-change influencer.
