Job Description
The successful candidate will provide professional lawn mowing and grass-cutting services at designated sites and facilities, following municipal standards and environmental requirements. The role involves operating lawnmowers and brush cutters, maintaining equipment, and carrying out general maintenance tasks in both developed and undeveloped open spaces. The operator will work as part of a team to enhance the quality of public spaces and contribute to a healthy and sustainable environment for residents. The position requires physical fitness, attention to detail, and a willingness to work shifts.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Operate lawnmowers, brush cutters, and related equipment to cut grass as required.
Perform grass-cutting and general maintenance in open spaces, parks, and facilities.
Conduct minor maintenance and checks on lawnmowing equipment.
Follow instructions and adhere to municipal maintenance standards.
Ensure safe and efficient use of equipment.
Assist in maintaining a clean and safe environment in assigned areas.
Work shifts and provide services according to schedules and requirements.
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Basic literacy (ability to read, write, and follow instructions).
Relevant experience operating a brush cutter or lawnmower (advantage).
Ability to perform manual duties effectively.
Physically fit and in good health (no back problems).
Willingness and ability to work shifts.
Must undergo a criminal record check and consent to fingerprinting by the Tshwane Metro Police Department (at own cost).
