About the A-GRIP Project
The A-GRIP Project aims to strengthen food-secure and resilient farming systems in 16 districts across Uganda's Busoga, Elgon, Kigezi, Lango, and Rwenzori regions. The focus is on improving land tenure security, and access to agricultural and food security services using a Results-Based Financing (RBF) approach.
ZOA is responsible for implementing capacity development activities under Outcome Area 1 of the A-GRIP Project—focusing on land rights, customary land management, and district-level training.
Role Overview
As Land Cartographer, you will play a key technical and coordination role in land demarcation and registration activities. This includes training local teams, supporting digital mapping and data management using QGIS, and working closely with land offices and district authorities to ensure the digitalization and issuance of Certificates of Customary Ownership (CCOs).

How to Apply
Training & Coordination
Train and support land demarcation teams, including Area Land Committees, on the use of digital tools for land mapping.
Facilitate capacity building in land registration and application processes at district and sub-county levels.
Act as the program focal point for digital land data collection.
Data Management & Reporting
Support the preparation, digitalization, and submission of land application files.
Use QGIS to plot land data, generate map prints, and manage digital records.
Maintain and update digital land databases (QGID system) and generate statistical reports on parcels mapped, conflicts, gender-disaggregated data, and applications.
Stakeholder Engagement
Liaise with District Land Offices, the Ministry of Lands, Housing and Urban Development, and other stakeholders to support training and data-sharing efforts.
Represent ZOA at relevant sub-county, district, and national land meetings.
Accountability
Sensitize stakeholders on ZOA's feedback and complaint mechanisms.
Accurately document and report any received feedback or complaints following established protocols.
Qualifications & Experience
Diploma or degree in Cartography, Geoinformatics, Surveying, or a related field.
Proven experience in land demarcation, registration, and digital data collection.
Expertise in QGIS and Microsoft Excel is essential.
Experience in community facilitation and documentation.
Valid motorcycle riding license required; ability to ride will be assessed during interviews.
Experience working in the Busoga, Lira, or Rwenzori regions is an advantage.
Skills & Attributes
Strong communication skills (written and verbal) in English.
Detail-oriented with strong organizational and planning abilities.
Proactive, self-motivated, and able to work independently.
Respectful, adaptable, and culturally sensitive.
Committed to ZOA’s Christian identity, mission, and values.
Language skills in local dialects of the project regions are an asset.
Working Conditions
Full-time (40 hours/week), Monday to Friday
Flexibility in working hours may be required for travel or during peak periods
Work location: Primarily field-based in the designated project regions
Workspaces will be in ZOA offices or shared spaces with local partners
