Job Description

The Land and Social Graduate Trainee will support the Land and Social Performance team in activities related to land acquisition, community consultation, grievance resolution, and resettlement implementation. The role involves conducting fieldwork, supporting socio-economic surveys, assisting with social impact assessments, and maintaining documentation of engagement processes. 


The trainee will also support the evaluation of social performance indicators and help ensure compliance with relevant social and environmental standards. The position provides practical experience in managing the social dimensions of large-scale infrastructure projects.

Duties, Roles and Responsibilities

  • Support community engagement efforts by organizing meetings, gathering feedback, and fostering communication with local leaders and affected persons.

  • Assist in resettlement planning, identification, and documentation of project-affected persons (PAPs).

  • Participate in conducting social impact assessments in collaboration with consultants and internal teams.

  • Maintain accurate records of land acquisition processes, resettlement activities, and community interactions.

  • Prepare periodic reports on key social and land-related activities and challenges.

  • Assist in coordinating with stakeholders, including government agencies, NGOs, PAPs, and local authorities.

  • Support compliance monitoring efforts and provide input on resolving non-compliance issues.

  • Contribute to grievance management by documenting and tracking community concerns.

  • Support the evaluation of livelihood restoration and community development programs.

  • Assist in field data collection, including socio-economic surveys and household monitoring.

Qualifications, Education and Competencies

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Land Economics, Land Surveying, Anthropology, Community Development, or related field.

  • Demonstrated interest in land access, social performance, and community development.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders.

  • Willingness to conduct fieldwork and interact with local communities.

  • Familiarity with resettlement principles and social impact assessments is an advantage.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

  • Eagerness to learn, adapt, and contribute to a dynamic and multidisciplinary team.
