The Ministry of Water and Environment, with support from the European Union and the Royal Danish Government, is implementing the Partnering for Forests (P4F) Project. The project is as a result of the Memorandum of Understanding signed between the European Union and the Government of Uganda on 8th November 2022 in Sharm el Sheikh, Egypt with a mutual goal of enabling forests to fulfill their multiple roles in society, economy and environment. The overall objective of this project is to implement targeted sustainable development, climate change adaptation and mitigation, and biodiversity conservation by addressing critical issues in forest governance and management in Uganda, contributing to both national economic development and global environmental goals.

Job Description
The Ministry of Water and Environment through the Water Quality Department wishes to recruit qualified persons on contract terms to provide technical support as specified below;
Job Title: Laboratory Technician (General Chemistry)
Positions: 1(One)
Duty Station: National Water Quality Reference Laboratory, Entebbe
Salary Scale: U5
Reports to: Senior Technician (General Chemistry)
Supervises: Laboratory attendants
Main purpose: Sampling and analysis of samples.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
- Receives, labels and safely stores water, wastewater, sediment and biota samples.
- Analyses water, wastewater, sediment, biota and proficiency testing samples in the General chemiscry laboratory in accordance with the laboratory procedures.
- Participates in method verification in the chemistry laboratory in accordance with the laboratory procedures.
- Ensures safe removal and disposal of laboratory waste.
- Prepares reagents, standards and quality control samples.
- Responsible for environmental monitoring in the laboratories and sample storage areas.
- Maintains environmental monitoring records and ensures compliance to specifications.
- Carries out simple maintenance cf laboratory equipment and apparatus.
- Carries out verification ei Chemisiry Laboratory measurement equipment.
- Participates in field sampling and data collection.
- Takes inventory and stock of laberatory equipment, reagents and consumables in the chemistry laboratory.
- Performs any other duties as may be assigned from time to time
