Job Description
We are looking for passionate and self driven professionals to join our team under the Kulea Watoto 2.0 project and contribute to our vision and mission.
Duty Station: Kampala, Uganda, with periodic field travel to the program areas Reports to: Project Coordinator

Scope of Work
The Knowledge Management, Policy and Advocacy Officer will synthesize generated and documented evidence, and strategize use of evidence and learning from Kulea Watoto 2.0 to influence policy, practice, and investment in Early Childhood Care and Development (ECCD). The job holder will ensure that project learnings from Kulea Watoto Project in refugee and host community settings paying attention to the developmental needs of young children in conflict and crisis settings through advocacy, raising the profile of AfriChild and partners’ work in this area. He/she will cover conducting a deliberate process of informing and influencing decision-makers in support of evidence-based change, including resource mobilization as well as support in the design and tailor communication messages and materials suited to advocacy work and desired impact.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
- Uganda job portalLead the co-development and implementation of a knowledge management and learning strategy for Kulea Watoto 2.0 in collaboration with the consortium partners.
- Support cross-learning and knowledge sharing among consortium partners (IRC, Madrasa, KRC, LABE) and other Conrad N. Hilton Foundation funded partners in the same space through learning events, reflection sessions, and communities of practice.
- Support the design, coordination, and dissemination of research and learning studies related to the two-generation ECD model in refugee and host community contexts.
- Work closely with the Project Coordinator, Research Coordinator, Communication and MEAL teams in the design, coordination, and dissemination of research and learning studies related to the two-generation ECD model in refugee and host community contexts.
- Translate research findings into accessible, policy-relevant messages for diverse audiences, including government, donors, and practitioners.
- Raise awareness and influence decision makers such as line ministries including Ministries of Education and Sports (MoES), Ministry of Gender, Labour, and Social
Development (MGLSD), and Health to invest in and adopt effective early childhood development and caregiving solutions.
- Create, enhance, and leverage a network of relevant contacts that foster national policy and advocacy partnerships in collaboration with country, district, and regional stakeholders, serving as focal point for any policy partner relationships.
- Represent AfriChild at relevant multinational, national, and district policy-related working groups, meetings, committees, and fora with donors and key policymakers and humanitarian settlement authorities.
- Keep tabs on relevant publications and readings and share them with Kulea Watoto staff and
- partners in the country by ensuring policy and advocacy files and
- knowledge is organized and accessible for Kulea Watoto staff and partners.
- Lead the development and implementation of a policy and advocacy strategy aligned with national and district-level ECD priorities.
- Lead engagements with relevant government ministries, departments, and agencies, district local governments, and coordination platforms to promote evidence-informed ECD policies and investments.
- Prepare policy briefs, position papers, and advocacy messages based on project evidence and learning.
- Ensure that all knowledge generation, research, and advocacy activities adhere to ethical standards, safeguarding principles, and data protection requirements
- Keep abreast of ECD and caregiving policy debates and research, sharing relevant satenurg in poles.

- Write updates and recommendations to key internal and external stakeholders to inform and influence policy and practice.
- Contribute to the production of policy papers, briefs, and summaries targeting internal and external audiences in alignment with communications and viability scope of work
- Develop and assist in the finalization of 2-Gen specific advocacy talking points and presentations for events and meetings and support relevant staff with positioning and preparation prior to events and meetings as needed.
