Job Description
The Junior/Intermediate Travel Designer will serve as a dedicated consultant to travel agents, managing booking enquiries through the Wilderness Window and other internal systems. This role requires meticulous attention to detail and a passion for crafting personalized itineraries that ensure a smooth and elevated guest experience. The designer must have an in-depth understanding of regional logistics, product knowledge, and supplier networks, with a strong focus on maintaining agent relationships and financial accuracy for each booking.
Based in Johannesburg or Cape Town, this role involves ongoing coordination with the Reservations Manager, handling accommodation and transfer bookings, quoting travel packages, and maintaining booking records. The successful candidate must demonstrate strong communication skills, customer service excellence, and a commitment to conservation-based travel.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Liaise with the Reservations Manager on agent relationships and booking developments
Manage bookings via Wilderness Window, TourPlan, WISH, and other internal systems
Coordinate accommodation, transfers, flights, and touring logistics
Ensure early-morning and late-night pickups are properly arranged
Maintain excellent communication with agents and address any booking-related queries
Build strong relationships with agents based on trust and service excellence
Update and maintain comprehensive booking files, including costings, correspondence, and financial records
Quote accurately, factoring in strategic and preferred APs, while upselling where possible
Design seamless itineraries aligned with company guidelines and product quality standards
Apply AP systems, policies, and protocols when managing bookings
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Qualifications:
Matric certificate with Mathematics (minimum standard grade or above)
Tertiary certificate in Travel & Tourism/Hospitality (advantageous)
Experience:
2–4 years of experience in inbound travel and itinerary planning
Proven ability in handling client relationships and product development
Sound knowledge of Southern Africa (Zambia, Zimbabwe, Botswana, Namibia), East Africa (Tanzania, Kenya, Rwanda, Uganda), and South Africa (Cape Town, Garden Route, safari destinations)
Skills and Competencies:
Highly detailed product knowledge and regional logistics expertise
Excellent written and verbal communication in English
Strong organizational and financial management skills
Ability to work independently, with integrity and attention to detail
Proficiency in TourPlan, WISH, and MS Office
A proactive, dynamic personality with customer-focused mindset

A strong passion for wildlife, conservation, and sustainable tourism
