Job Description
The interns will work under the supervision of the Associate Human Rights and Social Inclusion Officer. Their responsibilities will include supporting the development of human rights and gender-related materials, contributing to publications, concept notes, and reports, and assisting with capacity-building initiatives. They will also support engagement with UN human rights mechanisms, preparation of events such as the World Urban Forum, and internal reporting. Tasks may also include logistical support, research, drafting communication materials, and attending meetings. The internships may be undertaken in-person or remotely (with flexibility for time zone differences).

How to Apply
Support the development of internal human rights, gender, and social inclusion capacity-building materials.
Conduct background research, draft surveys, and prepare communication materials.
Contribute to the preparation of reports, publications, and concept notes on human rights and gender mainstreaming.
Support internal reporting by gathering and organizing feedback.
Assist in engaging with UN human rights mechanisms, including the Human Rights Council.
Provide support in organizing and documenting meetings/events, including logistical arrangements and preparation of materials.
Support the planning and preparation of human rights and gender-related events at the World Urban Forum.
Carry out administrative tasks such as taking meeting minutes and preparing summary reports.
Perform any other duties as assigned to support the Human Rights and Social Inclusion Unit.
Qualifications (must meet one of the following):
Enrolled in a graduate programme (Master’s level or higher).
Enrolled in the final year of a Bachelor’s degree programme.
Recently graduated with a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD.
Preferred areas of study:
Law (LLB or LLM), Human Rights Law, Human Rights Studies, Gender Studies, or related fields.
Skills and Competencies:
Computer literacy in Microsoft Office Suite.
Strong research and analytical skills.
Excellent communication and drafting abilities.
Demonstrated interest in the work of the United Nations and commitment to the ideals of the UN Charter.
Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds.
Familiarity with UN human rights mechanisms and gender mainstreaming in development work is desirable.
Fluency in English is required; knowledge of another UN language is an asset.
Experience:
No prior professional work experience is required. However, familiarity with human rights, gender, and sustainable development concepts is desirable.
