MCI has been providing professional journalism and multimedia journalism training since 2012. It is a social enterprise led by a team of four Ugandans that focus on student journalists who hope to improve their skills in the fields of journalism by providing media fellowship and journalism workshops.

Media Challenge Initiative
As MCI continues to expand, we are seeking a skilled and experienced Human Resource Officer to join our team. The selected candidate will play a pivotal role in ensuring that all employees perform in alignment with their Job Descriptions (JDs) and contribute effectively to our organizational projects.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Performance Management: Develop and implement strategies for effective performance management.
Work closely with department heads to ensure that employees meet performance expectations outlined in their JDs.
MEAL for Organizational Projects: Collaborate with the Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning (MEAL) team to integrate HR strategies into organization-wide projects.
Ensure that HR practices align with project goals and contribute to the overall success of initiatives.
Talent Retention: Design and implement initiatives to attract and retain high-caliber employees. Conduct regular engagement surveys and implement action plans based on feedback.
Employee Relations: Serve as a point of contact for employee relations issues, fostering a positive and inclusive workplace culture.
Mediate and resolve conflicts to maintain a harmonious work environment.
Training and Development: Identify training needs and coordinate the development and delivery of relevant training programs. Support career development initiatives to enhance employee skills and capabilities.

Qualifications:
Essential:
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in Human Resources.
Proven experience in performance management, talent retention, and employee relations.
Familiarity with MEAL practices and their integration into HR processes.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with stakeholders, MCI Fellows and alumni.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Desirable:
Experience in project management
Experience working in a Media (for) development organization,
Stellar Monitoring and Evaluation skills.
