Job Description
Reporting directly to the Managing Director – East Africa, the Head of Procurement & Fleet will be responsible for overseeing and executing efficient procurement practices and effective fleet management across GardaWorld operations in East Africa. The role will ensure compliance with organizational guidelines, manage vendor relationships, and implement systems for monitoring procurement and fleet efficiency. The incumbent will also be responsible for supervising country-level procurement and fleet managers, conducting performance evaluations, and aligning operations with business goals. The position involves extensive collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to support business continuity and service excellence.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Procurement Management
Lead strategic procurement planning and execution.
Coordinate procurement processes ensuring compliance with GardaWorld SOPs.
Oversee tendering, contracting, and vendor management.
Review and submit procurement reports and documentation.
Ensure procurement activities align with project timelines and quality standards.
Fleet Management
Establish systems for vehicle maintenance, fuel tracking, and registration.
Monitor fleet performance and ensure adherence to fleet SOPs.
Advise on fleet aspects during new project planning.
Identify and manage vehicle service providers.
Provide fleet performance and maintenance reports to management.
Staff Management
Develop and oversee implementation of the annual operating plan (AOP).
Provide coaching, mentoring, and performance evaluations.
Foster a participatory and collaborative work environment.
Promote inter-departmental cooperation and knowledge sharing.
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Qualifications
Degree in Business Administration or related field.
Membership in a recognized procurement professional body.
Experience
Minimum 7 years of relevant experience in procurement and fleet management.
Proven track record in handling multi-country procurement operations.
Competencies
Strong planning, organizing, and problem-solving skills.
Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities.
Integrity, accountability, and attention to detail.
Ability to manage conflict, work under pressure, and drive performance.
Proven leadership and stakeholder management capabilities.
