Job Title: Head, Legal & Risk Dispute Management

Job Purpose
The role is responsible for overseeing the litigation and dispute management function within the Bank. You will lead a team dedicated to proactively managing legal risks, while also personally handling complex litigation and dispute resolution matters. The goal is to protect and defend the Bank’s interests in line with regulatory and governance frameworks.

How to Apply
Manage and oversee the Bank’s litigation portfolio across all jurisdictions.
Provide strategic leadership to the Dispute Resolution team.
Offer expert legal advice to internal stakeholders and governance bodies.
Prepare and present reports to the Board and relevant committees.
Work closely with external legal counsel to ensure effective handling of disputes.
Lead the management of client complaints that may escalate to litigation.
Support enterprise-wide legal risk management in alignment with the Bank’s risk framework.
Draft and review legal correspondence and documentation related to litigation and dispute matters.
Maintain accurate legal records and ensure regulatory compliance.
Education:
Postgraduate degree in Law (LLM preferred)
Professional Experience:
Minimum of 10 years post-qualification experience in legal practice with a strong focus on commercial contracts and disputes.
At least 5 years of in-house litigation experience within a large commercial bank or financial institution.
Proven track record in commercial litigation from a reputable law firm.
8–10 years’ experience in reviewing, drafting, and negotiating complex legal documentation.
A minimum of 8 years’ experience within the financial/legal sector.
At least 5 years in a leadership role within a dispute resolution function.
Preferred:
Previous role as Head or Deputy Head of Litigation in a financial institution.
Certification in arbitration or mediation is an added advantage.
