Job Description
The Head, Asset Finance will be responsible for spearheading business growth, product strategy, partnership development, customer acquisition, and risk management for the asset finance and IPF portfolios. This role involves designing and executing strategic asset finance plans, identifying new market opportunities, and driving innovation in financing products and digital processes. The role will oversee end-to-end lending processes, enhance credit quality, build strong dealer and insurance partnerships, and support sales teams in originating quality asset finance deals. The role will also lead people development, performance management, and cross-functional collaboration to ensure efficient execution, customer satisfaction, and alignment with regulatory requirements and market trends.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Financial & Portfolio Growth
Develop and implement strategies to grow the asset finance and IPF portfolios
Drive revenue targets through new business, cross-selling, and relationship deepening
Optimize pricing, cost control, and risk-adjusted returns
Monitor portfolio performance and ensure healthy yields and quality loan book
Drive disbursements, NFI growth, NPL reduction, and accurate financial reporting
Strategy & Innovation
Formulate and execute the Bank’s asset finance strategy across retail and business banking
Identify new market opportunities in key sectors (transport, agriculture, logistics, manufacturing, construction)
Lead digital transformation initiatives (automation, dealer portal, workflow enhancements)
Partner with dealers, equipment suppliers, insurers, and government bodies
Lead structured leasing and innovative product development
Customer Relationship Management
Support sales teams in originating and closing asset finance deals
Conduct joint client engagements to enhance acquisition and retention
Develop tailored customer value propositions for SMEs, corporates, and retail clients
Ensure efficient service delivery and quick turnaround times
Enhance asset finance brand visibility and campaigns
Insurance Premium Financing (IPF)
Grow the IPF portfolio and embed IPF in the lending value chain
Build strong relationships with insurance companies and brokers
Streamline IPF approval and policy processes
People & Leadership
Provide strategic leadership and direction to asset finance teams
Coach, mentor, and develop talent for high performance
Ensure staffing levels, succession planning, and performance management
Drive professional training and continuous improvement

Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or related field
Master’s degree in Strategic Management, Business Administration, or related field (preferred)
Experience
Minimum 10 years’ banking experience, with at least 5 years in senior leadership in asset finance, commercial lending, or equipment leasing
Proven success in developing and managing large asset finance portfolios
Strong knowledge of credit, collateral, risk assessment, and Kenyan asset finance market
Skills and Competencies
Strong financial and credit analysis skills
Excellent negotiation, business development, and customer relationship skills
Strong understanding of CBK regulations and asset finance governance
Strategic thinker with strong execution capability
Proven leadership, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills
Ability to lead digital transformation and process improvements
