The Graphics and Multimedia Associate will play a critical role in supporting deliberate and intentional utilization-focused learning that will guide adaptive management. This position will focus on creating visually compelling, interactive, and informative content across various media formats to effectively communicate complex data, learning outcomes, and best practices to diverse audiences within USAID/Uganda, implementing partners, and other involved parties.

Responsibilities
Design and produce a wide range of visual materials, including infographics, data visualizations, presentations, reports, impact stories, brochures, and digital assets to support learning initiatives and knowledge dissemination.
Create and edit video content, including explainer videos, training modules, thematic program implementation videos, and promotional materials for learning initiatives.
Support the Communications Specialist in creating interactive visual aids, interactive multimedia presentations, and e-learning modules to enhance engagement and knowledge retention.
Produce animated graphics and motion design elements for use in videos, social media, trainings, and digital platforms.
Collaborate closely with the Communications Specialist and Senior Learning Specialist to translate complex information and data into clear, engaging visual and multimedia formats.
Develop and maintain consistent visual branding across all media types, ensuring alignment with USAID branding and marking guidelines.
Create visually appealing templates for recurring documents, presentations, and multimedia assets to streamline production processes.
Design and implement innovative visual storytelling techniques across various media to showcase success stories, case studies, and lessons learned.
Ensure all designed materials and multimedia content are accessible and inclusive, considering factors such as color blindness, hearing impairments, and compatibility across various devices and formats.
Work with the Communications Specialist to manage the audio production for podcasts, video voiceovers, and other audio-based learning materials.
Provide art direction for photoshoots and manage a library of photographs for use in various media projects.
Stay updated on current trends, tools, and best practices in graphic design, multimedia production, and interactive content creation, particularly in the context of international development.
Provide guidance and training to team members on effective use of visual and multimedia elements in their work.
Manage and organize a library of visual and multimedia assets, ensuring easy access and reuse across projects.
Perform other duties as required.
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree and a minimum of 3 years of experience in graphic design and multimedia production, preferably with experience in international development or non-profit sectors.
Proficiency in industry-standard design and multimedia software, including: Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, Adobe Spark/Express), Design and video editing software (e.g., Canva, Capcut, Sketch, Wow), Interactive content creation tools (e.g., Articulate Storyline, Adobe Captivate), Basic web development skills (WordPress, FIGMA, HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript) for interactive content.
Strong portfolio demonstrating a range of design and multimedia skills, particularly in information design, data visualization, and video production.
Experience in creating accessible and responsive designs for both print and digital media.
Knowledge of current design and multimedia trends, best practices in user experience (UX), and information design principles.
Creativity and innovation in visual and multimedia storytelling and information presentation.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work across various media.
Excellent time management skills and ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
Good communication skills to effectively collaborate with team members and understand client needs.
Adaptability and willingness to revise designs and content based on feedback and changing requirements.
Curiosity and eagerness to learn about new topics in international development to inform design and multimedia choices.
Patience and ability to explain design and multimedia concepts to non-specialists.
Cultural sensitivity and awareness to create appropriate content for diverse audiences.
Proactive approach to seeking out new ideas and inspiration for multimedia projects.
Problem-solving skills to overcome technical challenges in various media formats.
Nice to have
Familiarity with USAID branding and marking guidelines is a plus.
