Job Description
The Graduate Management Trainee – Tax will support the Head of Tax in ensuring the organisation's tax compliance and reporting obligations are met by preparing tax computations and returns, analysing tax data, and assisting in audits and assessments. The role supports effective tax risk management within Old Mutual Uganda.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
- Prepare tax paid schedules to settle taxes payable for the period.
- Ensure compliance with tax regulations and timely filing of returns to avoid penalties and interest.
- Prepare reconciliations of tax ledger control accounts and balance sheet substantiation of tax-related accounts.
- Reconcile EFRIS sales versus sales booked in the accounting system and resolve variances with the IT team.
- Prepare half-year and full-year tax packs for review by the Head of Tax.
- Update tax payments in the reporting payments system and tax risk management schedules.
- Draft quarterly income tax and deferred tax computations for review.
- Maintain a tax risk and issues tracker, identify root causes, and implement mitigation measures.
- Ensure adherence to AML, KYC, and Compliance-related policies and procedures.
