Job Description
The GIS Technician is responsible for the capture and update of network asset data to aid operations and project planning. This role involves conducting detailed inspections of Medium and Low Voltage network assets and reporting on high-risk hazards. The technician ensures that all geospatial data is accurately maintained within the GIS system database.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
- To capture and update network asset data.
- Detailed Inspection as per plan of the status and condition of Medium Voltage and Low Voltage network assets.
- Identify and Report on high-risk hazards on the network
- Responsible and accountable for allocated resources.
- Provide basic recommendations and necessary corrective actions, based on findings on the ground.
- Conduct field surveys and Scoping for network investment planning and projects execution.
- Capture new lines and network additions.
- Facilitate surveys for schemes.
- Preparation of periodic reports.
- Accurate and well-maintained network GIS data and records on the GIS system Database.
- Capture geospatial data in relation to the network.
- Facilitate or generate GIS maps and drawings resulting from surveys.
- Meeting targets assigned to be done in a given time frame.
