Job Description
The GIS Technician at Uganda Electricity Distribution Company Limited (UEDCL) is responsible for the capture of network asset data in line with approved standards and data collection plans. This role supports the processes of operations and project planning and execution through accurate geospatial data. The position involves conducting field surveys, network inspections, and maintaining records on the GIS system database.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
- To capture and update network asset data.
- Detailed Inspection as per plan of the status and condition of Medium Voltage and Low Voltage network assets.
- Identify and Report on high-risk hazards on the network
- Responsible and accountable for allocated resources.
- Provide basic recommendations and necessary corrective actions, based on findings on the ground.
- Conduct field surveys and Scoping for network investment planning and projects execution.
- Capture new lines and network additions.
- Facilitate surveys for schemes.
- Preparation of periodic reports.
- Accurate and well-maintained network GIS data and records on the GIS system Database.
- Capture geospatial data in relation to the network.
- Facilitate or generate GIS maps and drawings resulting from surveys.
- Meeting targets assigned to be done in a given time frame.
