Job Description
The General Assistant will work in the Building Department, focusing on accurate loading of products, assisting with stock transfers, ensuring proper stacking and counting of stock, and keeping the yard clean and tidy. The role requires interaction with both customers and internal teams, ensuring satisfaction through efficient service and product knowledge. Duties also include reporting stock shortages or damages, bagging stone/sand, and participating in stocktakes. This position plays a critical role in maintaining efficiency, minimizing losses, and ensuring customer satisfaction to drive repeat business and profitability.

Load customer vehicles, delivery, and transfer trucks accurately and on time.
Stack and count stock properly.
Assist in pulling stock for transfers.
Report shortages and breakages promptly.
Maintain cleanliness and good housekeeping in the work area.

Bag stone and sand as required.
Participate in perpetual stocktakes.
Carry out tasks as delegated by supervisors.

Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Education
Matric OR completion of 3 Intercept courses (equivalent to 120 credits).
Experience
At least 1 year’s experience in a similar role.
Completion of Brights Induction (Service Excellence) (advantageous).
Skills & Competencies
Excellent customer service skills.
Ability to count stock accurately.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Discipline, motivation, and reliability.
Good verbal communication.
Ability to work under pressure.
Physically fit with stamina to handle manual tasks.
