Job Description
Job Title: Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI) Manager
Organisation: Luigi Giussani Foundation (LGF)
Duty Station: Kampala, Uganda
The Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI) Manager will oversee the integration of gender equality and social inclusion strategies into the LIT program. They will lead the design, implementation, and monitoring of GESI interventions, ensuring that gender- responsive and inclusive approaches are embedded throughout the program’s activities.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Lead the development and implementation of a GESI strategy for the LIT program
Design and deliver training for program staff, teachers, school leaders, and other stakeholders on gender-responsive pedagogy and inclusive education practices
Develop GESI-specific indicators for monitoring and evaluation, ensuring that data collection systems capture information on gender and social inclusion outcomes
Represent LGF in advocacy forums and policy discussions related to gender and social inclusion
Work with local authorities, educational institutions, and community-based organizations to foster a collaborative approach to gender equality and inclusion
Prepare regular reports on GESI activities, progress, challenges, and recommendations, ensuring compliance with donor reporting requirements
Mentor and support program staff, including those in leadership positions, to ensure GESI principles are upheld in all aspects of the program’s implementation.
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Master’s degree in Gender Studies, Social Sciences, Education or related field
At least (5) five years of experience working in gender equality, social inclusion, or related fields
Deep understanding of gender equality and social inclusion
Strong knowledge of the national and international frameworks and policies relating to GESI, including the SDGs, Uganda’s National Gender Policy, and education policies
Ability to engage and collaborate with diverse stakeholders, including government bodies, local organizations, and international donors
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including report writing and presentation
Preferred Attributes
Knowledge and experience in addressing barriers to education for marginalized groups, including persons with disabilities, refugees, and adolescent girls
Experience working in development programs
Proficiency in using data management and reporting tools, including Microsoft Excel, SPSS, or other relevant platforms.
