Job Description
The Function Food Services Assistant will contribute to the planning, preparation, and presentation of menus and meals for a variety of events. The successful candidate will support the culinary team in creating innovative dishes, maintaining kitchen hygiene, and ensuring high food standards are met. This role also includes assisting with food styling, collaborating with other chefs, and keeping up to date with culinary trends. Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and evenings is essential.
This is a contract position, linked to a commercial agreement, based in Cape Town.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Assist with the planning and execution of food menus for various events
Contribute to the creation and presentation of creative, trend-aligned dishes
Maintain a clean and hygienic kitchen, following food safety standards
Support with recipe development and food styling
Collaborate with culinary staff to improve menu offerings
Attend training and workshops to enhance culinary skills
Ensure compliance with all food-related regulations and hygiene standards
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Education and Experience:
Matric (essential)
Working experience in the hospitality industry (essential)
Customer service experience (advantageous)
A qualification in Food and Beverage or Culinary Arts (advantageous)
Key Competencies:
Basic knowledge of food preparation
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities
Keen attention to detail and high hygiene standards
Passion for delivering world-class food services
Ability to work under pressure and meet event deadlines
Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
