Job Description
The Function Chef will be responsible for managing food planning, preparation, and presentation for a range of events, including corporate gatherings, special occasions, and social functions. The role involves working closely with clients to understand their culinary preferences, coordinating with kitchen staff, and ensuring that every dish meets the company’s high standards. The ideal candidate should be passionate about food, capable of leading a team, and able to execute under pressure while maintaining excellent quality and hygiene standards.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Plan and execute event-specific food menus based on client specifications
Coordinate with clients to accommodate dietary needs and preferences
Design and develop innovative menus in line with modern food trends
Lead, train, and supervise kitchen staff to ensure smooth operations
Oversee food preparation, plating, and presentation
Maintain inventory and control stock levels to minimize waste
Uphold food safety and hygiene standards in the kitchen environment
Collaborate with chefs and kitchen teams to improve recipes and operations
Keep up-to-date with industry innovations and participate in culinary training
Ensure compliance with food industry regulations and licensing standards
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Education & Experience:
Culinary degree or equivalent qualification from a recognized institute
Proven experience as a Chef de Partie or higher in a function/event catering setting
Extensive knowledge of cuisines, culinary techniques, and presentation
Competencies:
Strong leadership and team management skills
Excellent multitasking and organizational abilities
High attention to detail and commitment to food quality
Creative flair and passion for culinary innovation
In-depth understanding of food health and safety regulations
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
