Job Description
Reporting to management, the Fleet Officer will provide technical and administrative support to ensure that hired or leased vehicles and equipment remain in excellent working condition. The role requires overseeing fleet usage, coordinating transport operations, ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards, and assisting in reducing downtime. The position demands a proactive and physically fit individual who can manage fleet logistics effectively while upholding the City’s policies and procedures.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Coordinate and manage all departmental fleet-related issues.
Monitor, maintain, and ensure availability of hired or leased vehicles and equipment.
Support management and operational teams in fleet planning and scheduling.
Ensure compliance with municipal fleet regulations and safety requirements.
Conduct fleet inspections, reporting faults, and arranging timely repairs or maintenance.
Maintain accurate fleet records and documentation.
Collaborate with relevant departments to ensure efficient fleet utilization.
Assist in implementing fleet control measures to optimize usage and reduce costs.
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Minimum of Grade 12 certificate.
At least 2 years’ relevant experience in fleet and transport management.
A valid Code C1 driving licence with a valid Professional Driving Permit (PrDP).
Physical fitness and good health.
Strong computer literacy skills.
Must undergo a criminal record check and allow fingerprints to be taken by the Tshwane Metro Police Department (at own cost).
