Job Description
Reporting to the Finance Director, the Financial Accounting Superintendent will play a central role in managing core financial accounting functions. This includes overseeing payroll operations, statutory deductions, general ledger reconciliations, and variance analysis between budgeted and actual costs. The role requires accuracy, adherence to deadlines, and the ability to work collaboratively with HR and planning teams. It also involves reviewing data in Oracle ERP, preparing financial reports, and ensuring the correct submission of tax and statutory returns.
The position demands strong technical accounting knowledge, the ability to manage multiple priorities, and a high level of integrity and confidentiality, especially with respect to payroll and tax-related matters.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Manage company payroll and advise the Finance Director and HRM on payroll-related matters.
Follow up on general ledger items, especially those related to PAYE and other statutory deductions.
Reconcile all accounting modules with the general ledger and resolve discrepancies.
Oversee daily operations in accounting: accounts payable, accounts receivable, inventory, and fixed assets.
Review and ensure completeness and accuracy of data posted in Oracle.
Work closely with the planning department to analyze budget variances and cost drivers.
Review and approve monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
Ensure timely submission of tax returns and third-party statutory deductions.
Train new and reassigned staff on financial systems and processes.
Compile accurate monthly reports for submission to Corporate.
Adhere to all company reporting deadlines.
Use financial tools and software including Oracle, MS Office (Excel, Word), Inspiro, and WFMS.
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Education & Certification:
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related business field.
Certified Public Accountant (CPA-K).
Experience:
Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar financial accounting role.
Technical Skills:
Proficient in Oracle ERP, MS Office Suite (especially Excel), Inspiro, and WFMS.
Solid understanding of accounting principles under IFRS.
Competencies:
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Good problem-solving and analytical skills.
Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Strong team player with capacity for growth within the finance function.
Ability to work with diverse levels of staff across the organization.
