Malteser International is the international humanitarian relief agency of the Sovereign Order of Malta. Malteser International has been working in Uganda since 1996, with projects in several regions of the country. In Northern Uganda and more specifically in the West Nile region, MI is currently active in the sectors of WASH, livelihood and environment for improving the lives of both the refugee population as well as the host communities. The WASH activities focus on improved access to safe water and sanitation. Livelihood and environment components complement the approach. In the capital Kampala Malteser International’s focus lies on the health sector with the development of an operative ambulance system, an improved care for physiotherapy patients and the support of an initiative for mothers of disabled children.
For its work in Kampala, Uganda, Malteser International is looking for a motivated Finance Officer (Maternity Cover) – National Position.
As the Finance Officer you will be responsible for record keeping of financial documents, Winpaccs entries for Bank cashbooks, preparation of the payroll, cash requests and budget controls and ensures that the Organizations activities are in compliance with finance policies and procedures.

Support with preparing and seeking approval for the payment summary sheet before uploading the payments on the banking platform on time.
Ensure that winpaccs entries and monthly Bank reconciliations are done on time and sent for review to the Finance Manager/Country Operations Coordinator.
Prepare all the supporting documents for Bank cash books and make sure that they are stamped and scanned on time in consultation with the Finance Manager.
Support with reviewing PRFs and ensure that there is correct use of donor codes and MI Account codes.
Support with Organizational Audits both Internal and External.
Support with the drafting of the monthly payroll; with consolidating cash requests from different project managers as well as with drafting Budget Controls and submit to Finance Manager for Review.
In consultation with the Finance Manager support with preparing WHT, PAYE & NSSF Schedules and Filing Returns monthly

B COM or BBA Accounting or equivalent degree and/or professional certification in accounting strongly preferred or equivalent experience.
Minimum of three years’ experience in a similar position
Demonstrated ability to assimilate to new policies and procedures effectively.
Extremely detail oriented and organized.
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Fully computer literate (Microsoft Office, accounting software)
Fluency in English (written and spoken)
