Job Description
The Finance Manager will be responsible for overseeing the organization’s financial health, ensuring efficient administration, smooth logistics, and operational support. This role requires strong leadership in financial oversight and operational processes to ensure compliance with donor, organizational, and regulatory requirements.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Scope of Work:
i) Financial Management:
Develop, manage, and monitor budgets, financial forecasts, and donor financial reports.
Ensure compliance with donor guidelines, internal policies, and statutory regulations.
Supervise financial accounting, reporting, and audits, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
Strengthen internal controls, financial systems, and compliance frameworks.
ii) Administration and Logistics:
Oversee administrative functions, including procurement, office management, and asset tracking.
Supervise logistics operations, including supply chain management and vendor relationships, to support program implementation.
Establish and implement operational policies and procedures to enhance efficiency and transparency.
iii) Operations Support:
Assist the Head of Operations and Finance in developing and implementing operational strategies.
Work closely with program teams to align financial and operational support with project goals.
Provide mentorship, training, and capacity building to finance and administrative staff.
iv) Risk and Compliance Management:
Identify, assess, and mitigate financial and operational risks.
Ensure compliance with local statutory requirements and donor regulations.
Manage audits, address audit findings, and implement recommendations to strengthen processes.
v) Human Resources:
Assist with recruitment and onboarding of staff.
Manage payroll processes and ensure compliance with labor regulations.
Develop HR-related policies and oversee the financial aspects of staff training programs.
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Candidate Requirements:
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
Professional qualifications such as CPA or ACCA are required. A master’s degree is a plus.
Experience:
7-8 years of experience in financial management, preferably within an INGO environment.
Experience managing donor funds, including those from USAID, EU, or similar sources, is highly desirable.
Strong knowledge in administration, logistics, and operational management.
Experience in HR functions such as recruitment, training, payroll management, and employee benefits administration.
Proven experience managing audits and ensuring compliance with financial regulations.
Skills and Competencies:
Proficiency in financial ERP systems (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP) and advanced Excel skills.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
Highly organized with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities effectively.
Preferred Attributes:
Knowledge of local tax regulations and statutory compliance requirements.
Experience in team capacity building and mentoring.
Strong commitment to the organization’s mission and values
