Job Description
Position: Finance Manager
Organization: Omia Agribusiness Development Group Ltd
Location: Arua, Uganda (Headquarters)
Reports to: Chief Executive Officer (CEO)
Role Overview:
Omia Agribusiness is seeking a Finance Manager to provide strong financial leadership during a critical period of growth and internal strengthening. This role is central to driving sound financial planning, embedding robust internal controls, and supporting strategic scaling across Omia’s expanding distribution network.
The ideal candidate will combine financial expertise with a deep operational understanding, helping the organization systematize processes, align teams, and ensure accountability at every level.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
1. Financial Leadership & Strategy
Lead financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial modeling
Manage reporting for grant and investor funding, ensuring accuracy and compliance
Oversee internal financial controls, audit readiness, and regulatory compliance
Provide clear financial reports and analysis to senior leadership, highlighting variances and opportunities
2. Operational Oversight & Scalability
Collaborate with operations teams to streamline branch-level financial systems and processes
Develop and implement scalable financial tools, including branch P&Ls, dashboards, and SOPs
Strengthen inventory, logistics, and budget accountability across all locations
3. Grant Management & Stakeholder Coordination
Coordinate grant budgeting, expenditure tracking, reporting, and compliance
Support investor relations through preparation of financial summaries and due diligence documentation
Offer strategic insights to inform scale-up decisions and improve financial efficiency
4. Team Development & Culture Building
Define and monitor KPIs for financial and operational performance
Recruit, mentor, and support finance and operations staff, especially at branch level
Foster a culture of process discipline, accountability, and continuous improvement across the organization
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Education & Certification:
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or Business Administration
CPA, ACCA, or other recognized professional accounting qualification is mandatory
A Master’s degree is an added advantage
Experience:
Minimum 7 years of progressive experience in finance, with at least 3 years in a leadership role
Experience in sectors such as agriculture distribution, FMCG, or early-stage ventures is preferred
Proven expertise in building financial models, analyzing performance, and managing mixed funding streams (grants, equity, etc.)
Competencies:
Highly detail-oriented and process-driven
Strong systems thinker with experience in designing and enforcing accountability frameworks
Operationally experienced, particularly with logistics, inventory, and multi-site budgeting
Proficient in financial software and ERP tools (e.g., QuickBooks, Odoo)
Excellent communication skills — able to simplify complex financial data for varied audiences
Self-motivated, entrepreneurial mindset suited to dynamic and resource-constrained environments
Passionate about Omia’s mission to empower smallholder farmers and drive agriculture-led development
