Job Description
The Finance Manager is responsible for overseeing the company’s financial management, accounting, reporting, budgeting, and internal control functions. The role ensures the integrity, accuracy, and timeliness of financial information, compliance with applicable accounting standards and regulatory requirements, and effective financial planning to support the Bank’s mandate and strategic objectives.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
- Oversee day-to-day finance and accounting operations of the Bank.
- Review and approve accounting entries, reconciliations, and financial schedules prepared by the finance team.
- Ensure accurate and timely preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with IFRS and applicable regulations.
- Prepare and present financial reports to Senior Management, the Board, and relevant oversight bodies.
- Analyze financial performance and provide insights and recommendations to support management decision-making.
- Monitor key financial ratios, trends, and indicators relevant to a development finance institution
- Lead the preparation, consolidation, and monitoring of annual budgets and forecasts.
- Monitor budget performance and recommend corrective actions where necessary.
- Oversee cash flow management to ensure adequate liquidity for operations and lending activities.
- Establish, maintain, and strengthen financial controls, policies, and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with IFRS, tax laws, statutory requirements, and regulatory guidelines.
- Identify financial risks and implement appropriate mitigation measures.
- Lead internal and external audit processes and serve as the primary liaison with auditors.
- Review audit findings and ensure timely implementation of audit recommendations.
- Coordinate regulatory reporting and respond to queries from regulators and oversight institutions.
- Supervise, mentor, and develop finance staff to ensure high performance and professional growth.
- Allocate tasks, set performance objectives, and conduct staff performance evaluations.
- Promote a culture of integrity, accountability, and continuous improvement within the Finance Department.
- Provide financial advice and guidance to Management on strategic initiatives, projects, and investments.
- Support the development and implementation of the Bank’s strategic and operational plans.
- Contribute to policy development and institutional strengthening initiatives.
