Finance and Administration Officer

Position Summary
The Finance and Administration Officer will be based in Oruchinga and will report technically to the Head of Finance and administratively to the Team Leader. The role involves overseeing financial operations and providing administrative support at the field level to ensure efficiency, compliance, and value for money in all transactions and activities.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Finance Duties:
Verify all payment requests and PRFs for accurate coding, donor allocation, budget availability, and documentation.
Manage petty cash (up to UGX 350,000), including disbursements, voucher preparation, and replenishment processes.
Prepare check payment vouchers and ensure accurate documentation of all payments and receipts.
Maintain proper financial records and submit expenditure summaries and supporting documents to the Country Finance Coordinator.
Ensure compliance with ALIGHT’s financial policies and donor guidelines.
Support internal and external audits and implement recommended actions.
Organize and maintain finance documents in a secure and accessible manner.
Contribute to the improvement of financial systems and internal controls.
Administrative Duties:
Maintain and update the field office leave register; submit monthly reports to the Senior HR Officer.
Collect and verify staff timesheets before submission to the Kampala office.
Assist in recruitment activities for field-level staff and incentive workers, including interview coordination and onboarding support.
Support staff exit processes in coordination with HR.
Perform additional administrative tasks as assigned.
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar finance role, preferably in a humanitarian or NGO setting.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Word.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.

Ability to work effectively under pressure and in multicultural environments
