We are a cleantech company developing electric appliances that reduce carbon emissions while delivering income and health benefits to our customers in Low and Middle Income countries. Our products are designed to tap into dual revenue streams: small incremental payments from our customers, and payments for emissions reductions from global ER buyers. As a product design-oriented company with a deep understanding of how to grow markets by leveraging carbon finance, we seek to become the leading provider of emissions-reducing products and technology to consumers in Low and Middle Income Countries. Our first product is a line of pay-as-you-go electric pressure cooker products designed specifically for sub-Saharan African markets.
Role:
The Finance and Admin Manager will be responsible for the success of PowerUP’s finance activities: including controlling, budgeting, financial performance, and administration. The job is to ensure we meet our financial targets, comply with regulations, and guide our financial growth during our rapid expansion. They will work closely with the rest of the management team to guide the finance strategy. Their work will ultimately help our primarily women customers cook faster, cheaper, and with less carbon emissions - giving them more control of their time, finances, and health.
Financial Management
Controlling
Provide reliable and accurate financial and management advice
Budgeting and Financial Planning
Lead the monthly and annual budgeting processes
Own all the financial metrics/ goals and ensure they are realized by coordinating with all relevant stakeholders
Provide rigorous financial modeling and review with the management team
Tax compliance
Ensure compliance with Uganda and international tax laws and financial reporting
Audit and Internal Controls
Coordinate with external auditors ensuring audits are completed across the group entities
Manage and enforce the financial procedures across the company
Own the internal control procedures to increase the efficiency of operations and minimize business exposure
Procurement & Administration
Oversee purchasing operations of the business and offer best practices across all our operations
Grant Financial Management
Track and report on grant financial performance as well as grant narrative
Ensure adherence to grants policies
Minimum 8 years in relevant financial management
Deep knowledge of accounting software, group level accounting rules, and financial analysis
CPA, ACCA preferred
Experience in consolidating financial reporting across multiple entities and countries
Transfer pricing experience an added advantage
Strong analytical and organizational skills
Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
Team player with excellent ability to work autonomously and lead of a program of projects
