Job Description
Reporting to the Unit Manager, the Facilities Management Superintendent will be responsible for ensuring the efficient functioning of municipal facilities and infrastructure. Duties include managing maintenance schedules, monitoring building systems, and ensuring compliance with safety and environmental standards. The role requires advising on budgets, financial management, and promoting energy efficiency. The incumbent will oversee facility-related projects, from renovations to new construction, ensuring they are delivered on time and within budget. Additionally, the role involves contract management with vendors, space optimization, technology-driven facility management, risk mitigation, and the development of emergency response procedures.

How to Apply
Facilitate daily operations and maintenance of municipal facilities.
Manage building systems to ensure efficiency and safety.
Advise on budgeting, cost control, and financial management of facilities.
Promote energy efficiency in facility operations.
Oversee facility projects including renovations, expansions, and new constructions.
Negotiate and manage contracts with vendors and service providers.
Ensure safe and secure environments for building occupants.
Optimize space utilization across facilities.
Use technology and data to manage facility information and improve operations.
Identify operational trends and make recommendations to the Unit Manager.
Assess and mitigate risks to facilities, users, and municipal reputation.
Develop and implement emergency plans and safety procedures.
Education
Grade 12 (Matric).
Higher Certificate in Facility Management or Project Management.
Experience & Skills
Experience in a local government environment (essential).
Computer literacy.
Valid Driving License (Code C1).
No criminal record.
Strong knowledge of facility management principles.
Skills in financial management, contract negotiation, and project oversight.
Analytical and problem-solving ability.
Excellent organizational and communication skills.
