Programme for Accessible Health Communication and Education (PACE) is a local Health Non-Governmental Organization in Uganda and an Independent Network Member of Population Service International (PSI). PACE's work focuses on achieving universal health care coverage by addressing the health needs of Ugandans through consumer powered healthcare approaches and affordability of health products in the areas of HIV/TB, Reproductive Health, Malaria, Maternal and Child Health and access to clean water.
We are looking for an experienced Individual to take on the role of Executive Director. The position will be responsible for the management (financial, administrative, and programmatic), overall organizational development and representation of PACE's activities in Uganda.
Strategic Planning and Leadership: Develop and implement the organization's strategic plan, setting long-term goals, objectives, and priorities in collaboration with the board of directors and senior management team.
Organizational Management: Oversee daily operations, ensuring that programs and services align with the organization's mission and strategic goals. This includes managing staff, volunteers, and resources effectively.
Financial Management: Develop and manage the organization's budget, monitor financial performance, ensure financial sustainability, and oversee fundraising efforts, including grants, donations, and sponsorships.
Governance and Board Relations: Work closely with the board of directors, providing regular updates on organizational performance, financial status, and strategic initiatives. Assist the board in its governance functions and ensure compliance with policies and regulations.
Fundraising and Development: Lead fundraising initiatives, including developing and maintaining relationships with donors, grant-makers, and other funding sources. Create and execute fundraising strategies to support the organization's financial needs.
External Relations and Advocacy: Represent the organization in the community, building and maintaining relationships with stakeholders, including government agencies, other nonprofits, businesses, and the media. Advocate for the organization's mission and interests.
Human Resource Management: Oversee the recruitment, training, and development of staff, fostering a positive and inclusive workplace culture. Ensure that performance management systems are in place and that staff are motivated and supported.
Program Development and Evaluation: Oversee the development, implementation, and evaluation of programs and services, ensuring they meet the needs of the community and align with the organization's mission.
Compliance and Risk Management: Ensure the organization complies with all legal and regulatory requirements. Manage risks, including financial, operational, and reputational risks, and develop strategies to mitigate them.
Communications and Public Relations: Develop and implement communication strategies to enhance the organization's public image, promote its activities, and effectively communicate with stakeholders.

Education: A bachelor's degree is typically required, often in business administration, nonprofit management, public administration, or a related field. A master's degree (e.g., MBA, MPA) is often preferred.
Experience: Significant experience in a leadership role, often with a minimum of 5–10 years in management positions. Experience in the specific sector (nonprofit, corporate, government) and with the organization's mission or industry is highly valued.
Leadership Skills: Strong leadership and team-building skills to inspire and motivate staff, volunteers, and stakeholders. Ability to foster a positive organizational culture and lead through change.
Strategic Thinking: Proven ability to develop and implement strategic plans, set priorities, and drive organizational growth and impact.
Financial Acumen: Strong financial management skills, including budgeting, financial analysis, and fundraising. Experience with managing complex budgets and ensuring financial sustainability.
Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey the organization's mission, vision, and goals to a variety of audiences.
Interpersonal Skills: Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders, including board members, staff, donors, partners, and the community.
Problem-Solving Abilities: Ability to analyze complex problems, identify solutions, and make sound decisions to guide the organization effectively.
Fundraising and Development Experience: Demonstrated experience in fundraising, including donor cultivation, grant writing, and securing funding from diverse sources.
Adaptability and Flexibility: Ability to adapt to changing circumstances and lead the organization through challenges and opportunities in a dynamic environment.
Ethical Standards and Integrity: Strong commitment to ethical standards and integrity, with a focus on transparency, accountability, and maintaining the trust of stakeholders.
Knowledge of the Sector: Deep understanding of the organization's mission area, industry trends, and the broader social, economic, and political environment in which the organization operates
