Job Description
The Entomology Laboratory Technician will support entomological monitoring, laboratory sample processing, and insecticide resistance research. The role involves conducting PCR and ELISA assays, morphological identification of mosquitoes, maintaining laboratory equipment, and ensuring quality assurance and data reporting.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
- Support entomological monitoring and laboratory sample processing.
- Conduct morphological identification of Anopheles mosquitoes.
- Perform PCR assays for sibling species identification of An. gambiae s.l. and An. funestus s.l.
- Detect insecticide resistance markers including Kdr and Ace-1R mutations.
- Conduct ELISA for sporozoite detection and blood meal analysis.
- Prepare reagents and maintain proper sample storage and cold chain systems.
- Implement quality assurance and adhere to SOPs.
- Maintain laboratory equipment and inventory records.
- Ensure timely data recording, entry, and reporting.
- Support training and capacity building activities.
