Position Overview:

We are seeking a certified and experienced E&I ATEX Inspector – Level II to support inspection, verification, and compliance activities for Electrical and Instrumentation (E&I) installations in hazardous areas. The successful candidate will ensure adherence to ATEX directives and international standards to prevent potential ignition sources in explosive atmospheres.

How to Apply

  • Ensure all E&I installations in Hazardous Areas comply with project specifications, ATEX requirements, and international standards.

  • Participate in the development of Verification & Control Activity Reports (VCAR), defining the scope of work and budgeting for ATEX-related inspections.

  • Conduct inspections during installation and commissioning as per approved ATEX procedures.

  • Perform detailed initial, periodic, and close inspections of E&I installations, including during maintenance shutdowns and turnarounds.

  • Identify non-conformities in Ex equipment, issue defect reports, and initiate work requests through the EAM system.

  • Update and maintain the ATEX anomaly register, including validation and classification of high-risk items.

  • Issue ATEX Compliance Certificates during pre-startup safety reviews (PSSR) across construction, maintenance, and turnaround phases.

  • Review procurement documentation to ensure ATEX compliance of electrical equipment.

  • Apply standards such as IEC 60079 (parts 10, 14, 17) and IEC 61241, ensuring corrective action for any non-conformance in hazardous area installations.

  • Implement practical risk mitigation strategies (e.g., ALARP) when critical issues arise in explosive environments.

  • Coordinate and collaborate with construction and HSE teams to support ongoing compliance and safe practices.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent technical qualification.

Certifications:

  • Valid COMPEX EX01–EX04 or EEHA Certification is mandatory.

  • Registered Supervision Engineer Certificate or equivalent is required.

Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in E&I inspections within hazardous areas.

  • At least 3 previous roles in similar capacity on international projects (preferably in oil & gas or energy sectors).


Key Competencies & Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of ATEX Directives, IEC 60079, and relevant international electrical standards.

  • Thorough understanding of construction, installation, and commissioning of E&I systems in hazardous areas.

  • Familiarity with corrosion protection and insulation practices in oilfield site construction.

  • Proven ability to assess technical reports and ensure compliance with project procedures and standards.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and CAD software.

  • Excellent communication, reporting, and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work effectively in diverse, multidisciplinary teams.

  • Physically fit and in good health to perform site-based duties, including travel to remote locations.
