Job Description
The Driver will operate ChildFund vehicles in accordance with organizational transport policies, ensuring safety, punctuality, and professionalism. Responsibilities include transporting staff to project areas, conducting daily vehicle inspections, performing basic mechanical repairs, maintaining vehicle cleanliness, and ensuring compliance with all road, safety, and organizational regulations. The Driver must also support ChildFund’s safeguarding commitments and maintain accurate vehicle logbooks.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Adhere to Child Safeguarding Policy and remain alert to any safeguarding risks.
Conduct daily vehicle checks and ensure no mechanical issues before driving.
Drive ChildFund vehicles safely and responsibly, considering road and weather conditions.
Transport staff to project areas and maintain punctuality and courtesy at all times.
Report mechanical faults and accidents immediately.
Drive only to approved destinations in line with transport procedures.
Safeguard vehicle keys and prevent unauthorized access or duplication.
Ensure vehicle licensing, insurance, tyre condition, and servicing are up to date.
Perform minor mechanical repairs and report major faults.
Keep the vehicle clean and well-presented.
Supervise vehicle cleaning and repairs at garages or washing bays.
Follow all road traffic regulations and ChildFund transport policies.
Maintain speed limits and safe driving practices.
Ensure the vehicle logbook is updated and kept in the vehicle at all times.
Assist with loading and offloading goods or luggage.
Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Education & Experience:
Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a similar role, preferably in a child-focused development organization.
“O” Level (U.C.E) Certificate of Education.
Valid clean driving licence for classes A, B, and C.
Certificate in defensive driving, customer care, or public relations is an added advantage.
Basic knowledge of mechanical vehicle repair.
Demonstrated teamwork and good communication skills in English.
