Job Summary

AIRD is seeking a qualified and experienced Driver to support its operations at the Headquarters in Kampala. The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe and timely transportation of staff, goods, and materials, while ensuring vehicles are maintained in line with AIRD standards and traffic regulations.

  • Perform routine vehicle checks and maintenance (oil, water, battery, brakes, tires, etc.) to ensure roadworthiness

  • Maintain cleanliness and proper condition of AIRD vehicles

  • Plan driving routes and adhere to schedules

  • Safely transport authorized personnel, goods, and documents as assigned

  • Accurately record vehicle movements, mileage, fuel usage, and maintenance in the vehicle logbook

  • Ensure that all necessary vehicle documents (logbook, insurance, license) are valid and up to date

  • Submit timely monthly vehicle usage and maintenance reports

  • Comply with AIRD safety, security, and emergency procedures at all times

Qualifications, Education and Competencies

  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record

  • At least 5 years of professional driving experience, preferably with a humanitarian organization or commercial company

  • In-depth knowledge of traffic laws and safe driving practices

  • Ability to perform basic vehicle maintenance

  • Physically fit and able to lift heavy packages

  • Strong time management, interpersonal, and communication skills

  • Flexible, punctual, and dependable

  • High level of professionalism and ethical conduct

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Basic computer skills (Microsoft Word and Excel)
