Job Description
The Driver II / Mechanic II will operate university vehicles, ensure compliance with traffic rules, and perform preventive and corrective mechanical work. The role involves supporting transportation needs for staff, students, and goods, while ensuring vehicles remain roadworthy, serviced, and properly maintained.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Drive university vehicles safely and efficiently for official assignments.
Conduct routine vehicle checks, including fuel, oil, water, tires, and brakes before use.
Carry out minor mechanical repairs and report major faults promptly.
Ensure vehicles are serviced regularly and kept clean.
Maintain accurate records of trips, fuel consumption, and repairs.
Assist in the mechanical maintenance and servicing of the university fleet.
Adhere strictly to traffic regulations, road safety rules, and institutional guidelines.
Report accidents and incidents in line with university policy.
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
KCSE Mean Grade of D- (minus).
Valid driving license.
Suitability Test I for drivers.
Occupational Trade Test III for drivers/mechanics.
Defensive Driving Certificate.
First Aid Certificate.
Certificate of Good Conduct.
Mechanical knowledge and ability to perform basic vehicle maintenance.
High level of integrity, safety awareness, and time management.
