About the Project
Trade for Jobs Uganda (2025–2030) is a five-year initiative jointly implemented by the International Labour Organization (ILO) and the International Trade Centre (ITC), with funding from Sida (Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency).
The project aims to use trade as a catalyst for decent job creation and income generation for Ugandans—especially women and men living in poverty—by strengthening the dairy and tourism sectors in alignment with Uganda’s National Development Plan IV (2025/26–2029/30).
Purpose of the Role
The Driver will provide reliable transportation, vehicle maintenance, and administrative support to ensure smooth operations of the Trade for Jobs Uganda project.

Additional Information
This position is open to Ugandan nationals or individuals authorized to work in Uganda.
The contract will be administered on behalf of ITC by UNOPS.

How to Apply
Safely drive authorized personnel and transport goods as required.
Meet and assist visitors at the airport, including handling protocol and customs formalities.
Deliver and collect mail, documents, and other materials as assigned.
Maintain daily vehicle logs and prepare vehicle maintenance schedules.
Ensure regular maintenance, cleanliness, and roadworthiness of assigned vehicles.
Keep all required documents updated (insurance, registration, logs, first aid kit, etc.).
Report any vehicle incidents and follow proper accident procedures.
Stay informed about road conditions, security updates, and alternative routes.
Provide administrative support such as filing, photocopying, and data entry.
Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Education:
High school diploma or equivalent is required.
A valid driver’s license is mandatory.
Experience:
At least 2 years of experience as a driver with a safe driving record.
Experience with technical cooperation projects, UN agencies, embassies, or international organizations is an advantage.
A university degree may be considered in lieu of required experience.
Competencies:
Excellent knowledge of local roads, traffic regulations, and vehicle safety standards.
Ability to perform minor vehicle repairs and routine maintenance.
Strong communication, teamwork, and client service skills.
High sense of professionalism, reliability, and discretion.
Ability to remain calm and efficient under pressure.
Languages
Fluency in English is required.
Knowledge of other local languages spoken in Uganda is an asset.
