Job Description
The Debt Collection Intern will assist in monitoring and following up on overdue payments to ensure timely collection of debts owed to NYEWASCO. The intern will support the finance and accounting departments with administrative duties related to accounts receivable, participate in reconciliation activities, and help maintain accurate financial records. This role offers exposure to debt collection procedures within a public utility context and is designed to develop professional skills in finance and accounting operations.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Assist in tracking outstanding debts and preparing reminders for customers.
Support the finance team in updating and maintaining debtor records.
Help in reconciling customer accounts and payments.
Participate in compiling reports on debt collection activities.
Coordinate with other departments to facilitate effective debt recovery processes.
Perform any other duties as assigned to support the finance/accounting functions.
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Craft Certificate in Plumbing & Water Services or Diploma in Plumbing.
Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) qualification.
Basic understanding of finance/accounting principles is an advantage.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
Eagerness to learn and develop skills in debt collection and financial management.
